People every day are going to have different views and opinions on situations. There really is nothing you can do about that. The questions is, is how to compromise people's different views and opinions. The Republican-Democrat party was against the Federalists. They both had different views and beliefs. The Bill of Rights was created to do what it could to equalize things and compromise. This is one thing that the government did to help out equalization or beliefs and interests. Yes, they helped a little, but they probably could of done more.
I think that people have rights to have their own opinions. Although, to make peace they should be willing to do what they could to please others. A government could do a lot to compromise; such as: creating ways that would please both sides. This aren't always like we want them and the people need to realize that. We need to not be so selfish and know that we must bend a little to help out life. This can help make things easier for everyone. When people decided to be more open to ideas, that's when things wont be as difficult and we can all get along. I know that this may not fully happen, but people should consider it because it will help make peace.

Louisiana Purchase
Today I woke up in a bush. Completely flustered I stumbled through the wilderness until I came across a fool of a cowboy named shootin steve. He was runnin' full speed and fell flat on his face as he tried to leap over a fallen tree. When he came to - he uttered the words "I done shot him. I thought he was wild ragin' boar. Lewis looks like a boar..."
Thats all I could get out of him before he ran off like a broken black eyed susan.
I then continued through the woods until I came across a group of people with the names Lewis Clark and Sacajawea.. Lewis was a bloody mess so I bandaged the poor fellow and helped him on his way. You're welcome America.
P.S.
That Sacajawea must have bruises.. From when she fell from Heaven..

War of 1812

We had just achieved victory at Horseshoe Bend. Lead by our fearless leader Andrew Jackson. This was definitely revenge for the 517 that died at the battle of fort Mims. This will definitely hurt the Southern Native American forces. Celebration for this victory will be short because we must already begin to build up our forces and prepare for our next attack. We were preparing to attack New Orleans hopefully within the next year. I am very nervous about attacking New Orleans; however, I was nervous about attacking Horseshoe Bend and that turned out all right. I have faith in General Jackson. He is a powerful leader. This victory at Horseshoe will definitely be a turning point in the war. I am glad that was a part of such an important part of my countries development.

Louisiana Purchase

Hello my name is Lewis. President Andrew Jackson hired me to explore the newly purchased land to the west. This land was called the Louisiana Purchase, it was purchased illegally and purchased without congresses consent. I asked my friend Clark to come along as my second in command. We were on a expedition through Louisiana to the opposite shore. Along the way we met up with this native American woman named Sacajawea, she was with child at the time, we don't know who the father was. On the way we saw and recorded many different types of plants and animals. One day when I was scoping out the area I was shot, it was very painful and to this day I do not know who shot me.

Lousiana Purchase
It had been a long struggle as we continued our trek through the wilderness to find the Pacific. It was the 57th day of our expedition as we marched through the dense forrest of the North-Western frontier. The two men Lewis and Clark led the group on the path that we hoped would lead to the Pacific. Okay we made it, that was fun.

ONE VOICE, ONE SOUND (Bill Of Rights)
Essential Question - "How can a government build a unified nation out of a people with diverse interest and concerns?"
Consider the Bill Of Rights, which were made to create unification for all. The Bill Of Rights include a standard, and laws, and distinguished rights that everyone should adhere to, once theyve reffered to it. I feel that the Bill Of Rights helped create a unified nation because of its "black and white" styles statements that allowed indepence and created organization. There will always be a nation filled with people of different intrest and concerns, but its all about treating everyone equally and showing consideration to everyone. No matter their intrest or their concern at the moment. Which is what the Bill Of Rights offered, equality and organization. If you truly think about all the advances the Bill Of Rights have offered you would call it a genius creation! It pretty much solved issues that were at hand and helped dissolve ones that were soon to occur.

The Louisiana Purchase
It is 1800's and and Jefferson just bought New Orleans and western florida. When they created the The Louisiana Purchase Jefferson was worried that this deal was unconstitutional. He is a very strict constructionist. After he finally agreed with the deal, American nearly doubled in size.
George Washington
When Washinton became president he shaped our government for years to come. In 1789, when Washington became president, he began to shape the executive branch of our government. One of the first things that Washington did when he was elected was to create the Judicial System. The Judiciary Act of 1789 helped provide the rules for the number of justices and courts. He also started building his own personal cabinet. He chose people like Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton, and Henry Knox. These people became department heads to such things like secretay of war, attorney general, and the secretary of the state. This is only a small part of what Washington did for this country.
Dear Diary,
This morning I heard from the cook that Washington is now our president. Our glorious General that lead us through the war is now our commander-in-chief. He seems like a very strong leader. Life in United States of America is kind of scary right now. After the government threw out the Articles of Confederation and replaced it with the Constitution many people were worried that we would fall once again to England. Hopefully George is strong enough to deal with all these problems. This new country needs more than just a constitution. Maybe Washington will create a stronger United States. Well, I have to finish my work before my father comes home. I will write later.
Washington as the first president
America was still a fairly weak new nation. A lot of people still had separate thoughts and decisions on what to do and how to act. I personally believed that if people were not united soon, the newly formed states could crumble. That's where Washington came in. At the time there was a war going on between France and England. He told the American people to stay out of foreign affairs. If this did not happen growth could be hindered or a possible split in the country. His advice on neutrality was followed, but he retired after 2 terms. At this point there were 2 new party's. They were the Federalist and the Democratic-Republicans. This marked a political split between the Americans, but there was still a need for Washington when he died on December 14. 1799.
War of 1812
War, war resembles death and death resembles fear. About a year our American ships were importing goods to the United Kingdom. England at the time was at war with Napoleon, the French general. England was desperate for troops so the seized our ships and forced the crew into fighting for the English Navy. Since this incident accord America established an embargo with transporting goods. Of coarse I was for the war, meaning that I was a war hawk. The government then established war against England. During the war I was drafted in with Captain William David's company under Major Fields at Standley's Muster Ground in Darlington County. Since that time I was shot in the right hand and lost three fingers. The war left a scar throughout the rest of my life.
The importance of this war however was the fact that the government built a unified nation out of American citizens with diverse interest and concerns. They did this by conflicting to the problem, which in this case was the fact of the British harassing the American ships crews into joining the British Navy. In order to protect the American citizens the government had to establish an embargo to prevent other manufacturing transportation to the United Nations. England didn't respond with this to well, which resulted in war. The war started because of the American citizens concern with England's actions. The government dealt with the citizens concern by going to war. Throughout the beginning of America the government built the nation out of the citizen's interest and concerns by understanding or resulting the conflict of the problem. From what I've seen the government has been successful throughout the war because they understood the resulted conflict and they convicted the problem in order to help the American citizens. This is why the American government has been so successful over the years because they listen to their humble citizens.

Louisiana Purchase
Today I started building my "roomy" cabin on the Arkansas River. I cleaned my six guns and gave my horse some chowder. Last week when I was up in Three Forks I heard some rustling in the trees over yonder. I drew my six guns, quickly mind you, and fired a shot into the brush. To my "horror" and "surprise" my bullet found its mark in the body of Meriwether Lewis. We patched that fellow up with some leaves and vines and the next day he was off again.
I must digress a small bit about Mr. Lewis. Mr. Lewis and his partner, though I did not meet the man by the name of Clark, are truly astounding men worthy of any Indian camp leadership. They were sent to explore this beautiful land called the Louisiana Purchase and find new plants and animals. I told him my experience with the plants that give the runs and the wolves that take many a bullets to bring them to the ground. I hope my information will be helpful. This here United States government is gonna have a tough time making this nation unified with everyone being so diverse and all that ruckus. The government is gonna have to make sure that its rules and such apply to everyone, the blacks and injuins and women and men and all the people that live in this here country. Only with some good rules to keep these here people's rights safe, and some good old fashioned Democracy, is this country gonna be able to be unified.
P.S.
Sacajawea is a real looker.

Federalists & Democratic-Republicans

EQ: A government can build a unified nation from a diverse group through elections such as the Election of 1812. This gives all "qualified" people to opportunity to vote on what they feel would best suit the country. Also, the diverse people began to form groups/parties such as the Federalists and Democratic-Republicans, which will be further discussed in my blog.
The argument between Hamilton and Jefferson has been going on for quite some time now. The talk of the town is that the two are starting their own seperate parties. Hamilton will be the leader for the Federalists and Jefferson for the Democratic-Republicans. Now that Washington has left office, the two major political groups will become part of a two-party system. I've been working on the farm down hear for a while now and I'm already far in debt. I hear that the Federalists give power to the government. They want to ensure that the people pay both national and state debts. I can't afford to do that, I hardly make enough money to support my family on the farm. I really hope that we Democratic-Republicans of Jefferson's party over-rule the Federalists. All they do is read the Constitution and interpret it how they want to.
I don't support this "loose interpretation." It is just a slick way for those Scalywags to control us farmers and traders. I think that the Constituion should be read with "strict interpretation." The Constitution was written to be literal. The National government should be limited. I do not think that the Federal government should have concentrated power, unlike Hamilton and his supporters. Washington seems to think that having political parties pose a threat to the nation. At his farewell adress he criticized the "spirit of party," but I like having the two-party system. It is a way to make change and if I have to fight for my rights as a farmer, then by-golly, I will!

Election of 1800

Dear Journal,
It is 1800 and it is time for the Election of 1800. Honestly I believe Thomas Jefferson is going to when the election because he is already winning by 8 votes. This means Thomas Jefferson is President and Aaron Burr is Vice President. But Jefferson and Burr both are from two different parties. So the Constitution will have to do some thing about that. They might have to pass the 12th Amendment stating that electors might be running with the same party.
I really think that Jefferson is more qualified for this job than Burr is. There is not much diversity in this period of time but if there wereJefferson can bring the people together since the people elected him for president.
See ya lata,
Dominique

E.Q.
How can a government build a unified nation with diverse people?
How can a government build a unified nation with diverse people? As I followed Thomas Jefferson through house in which he lived, I realized that this man not only had victories but losses. I have been with Jefferson since the beginning, we were childhood friends. Now at the peak of his career for the first time I heard this great man cry. It was extremely shocking, a man who would lay his life down for his country, crying. He wanted so bad to change America from the federalist who wanted only the money to go into their filthy pockets. I find it very hilarious how those who know have knowledge take advantage of those who don't. Jefferson, my friend, has struggled these past days. Although he did win the election by a mere eight votes the thought of the country being laid upon his back was extremely hard to swallow. His opponets of course were angry but through his well thought out inaugural address he showed that he will try to do what's best for the people. My name is Natalie Rushmore and as I said earlier I have know Washington for quite some time.
To address a country who is filled with diverse people with different opinions then you would have to learn the people. The government would need to learn the different methods of the people. Seeing as though everyone does everything differently then everyone would have different interest. One way to identify what each individual would want in the country would be to send out surveys of what they would want to see happening in the country. It would then be left up to the government to decide on what would be ruled out and what would be kept. If the government was really in the interest of the people then they would do anything to get the people what they asked for. If they couldn't get the people what they asked for then try to come up with a method where everyone would be satisfied. It would be then that the government would be improving the country instead of trying to improve their social status.
Bill of Rights
The government has built a new nation out of a diverse population. The people in the Independent nation have defferent interest and concerns. The Bill of Rights made the it easier to govern the people. Many of the people have different priorities and are concerned about various things. The south and north have different concerns in there lives because they make a living differently. The Bill of Rights reasure them that there rights will be protected.
